Rachel is experienced in environmental and local government law, has worked in the United Kingdom, and for New Zealand’s Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment. She joined Anderson Lloyd in 2002 and is based in the Dunedin office.

Due to her experience working for industry, conservation lobbyists and regulators, Rachel has a broad view of issues, with an interest in political processes and systems and advising on public policy.

Rachel has a degree in ecology and her resource management expertise has been developed through working on major consenting projects (particularly municipal infrastructure), plan changes, second generation plans, enforcement orders and declarations. She guest lectures to law and planning students at the University of Otago.

Local government experience comes from acting for a number of councils across the spectrum of issues from electoral law to rates and the myriad of governance issues in between.

Rachel is a Director of the University Book Shop (Otago), the Independent Chair of the University of Otago Student Media Advisory Board, Chair of the Otago/Southland branch of the Resource Management Law Association, and a member of the Abbey College Advisory Committee, the organising committee for the Cancer Society Ball, and a member of the Otago Women Lawyers’ Society, and the Institute of Directors.
