Summer Clerk recruitment
Our Summer Clerk programme is intended to provide you with a real insight into working as a lawyer in a leading law firm. You will be actively involved in legal work from day one. This could involve reviewing contracts, attending client meetings, preparing memos and opinions, drafting documents, assisting with commercial transactions or attending court.
Our Summer Clerks are important to us – and we hope that they will stay with us to begin their legal career as a Law Clerk. Summer clerks usually join us during their third, penultimate or final year at university and we only take on as many Summer Clerks as we need for graduate positions. Accordingly, we put a lot of effort in to ensuring that summer clerks are a good fit, learn a lot and have a fun and enjoyable experience.
Our lawyers are split into teams within four specialist groups of the firm – corporate & commercial, property & private client, environment, planning & natural resources and litigation (including employment law). During the summer, you will work with more than one team in order to give you exposure to different areas of law. We will help you identify which of the teams may be most suitable for you. We are collaborative in our approach and you will get to work closely with team members of all levels.
When you start as a Summer Clerk, you will join our induction programme and meet with the other summer clerks across our four offices. You will also be assigned a buddy, who will be your first point of contact if you need any guidance or a helping hand. However, our culture is open and friendly and we are sure that that you will quickly feel comfortable dealing with partners and staff of all levels. Summer is a very busy time of the year and we are sure you will have a great social time with us as well with a range of office, team and client functions.
As an Accredited Living Wage Employer, we pay competitive salaries and provide some great benefits for our summer clerks.
Our Summer Clerk application process opens for two weeks every year in late March. During this time, online applications can be made through our website.
