Celebrating Pacific Representation at Higher Levels

8 Nov 23

The University of Otago Pacific Island Students' Association (UOPISA) recently celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Otago (University).

On 24 October 2023 UOPISA signed a MOU where the University will fund UOPISA to enable UOPISA to more actively support and encourage education for Pacific students at the University and to liaise with the Pacific community.

This is a great initiative by the University, and one of the many pro-bono matters Anderson Lloyd is proud to be involved in. Partner Anne McLeod, alongside senior solicitor Hayley Lowry and other members of the team were involved in assisting UOPISA to get this arrangement in place.

Anderson Lloyd takes pride in the pro-bono work we offer, by providing ongoing support to the communities in which we live, and assisting those individuals and organisations who otherwise may not be able to access legal services.

“I am grateful to the university for their collaborative partnership with UOPISA. I extend my heartfelt thanks to both past and present UOPISA alumni for their tireless efforts,” says UOPISA President, Elisepa Taukolo.

“Lastly, I want to express my deepest appreciation to the remarkable commercial lawyers, Anne, Tim, and Hayley, whose exceptional efforts made this all possible. Ofa atu!”
