Tomahawk Smaills Beachcare Trust planting programme

6 Oct 20

This week the Dunedin Resource Management team fought off climate change, by driving to Smaills beach, and planting 101 indigenous seedlings.

This was part of a planting programme helping to revitalise a dune area behind the beach that the Tomahawk Smaills Beachcare Trust is working to restore.

This was a great team outing and has supported the work of the trust.

The Tomahawk Smaills Beachcare Trust is focused on the catchments, dunes and beautiful beaches at the beginning of Otago Peninsula in Dunedin. They operate a nursery at Smaills Beach and produce 4000 plants each year to re-generate the dune systems.
