Land Use Recovery Plan Update
The Christchurch City Council did not endorse the Land Use Recovery Plan (LURP) on 21 November 2013. At the Mayor’s request, a further meeting is planned today, 22 November, with the Minister for Earthquake Recovery. The Government has previously signalled that it hoped to make a final decision and gazette the LURP by the end of November.
The LURP identifies the location for future development in Greater Christchurch, as well as a range of regulatory responses to assist earthquake recovery priorities, including a review of regional and district plans. The draft LURP was prepared by the local and regional authorities in conjunction with Ngāi Tahu, New Zealand Transport Agency and CERA. A key aspect of the LURP is the release of land for housing purposes.
