Sick leave entitlement doubled
The Government has passed a Bill which increases employees’ minimum entitlement to paid sick leave from five to ten days per year. The Bill comes into force in mid-July and will amend the Holidays Act 2003. The Bill allows employees to carry over ten days of unused sick leave per year, to a maximum entitlement of twenty days (which is the current maximum entitlement).
