Alistair specialises in commercial property. Having held a practising certificate for more than 40 years, he also has considerable and wide-ranging experience in many areas of the law. This breadth of experience allows him to identify core issues and achieve solutions .
Alistair’s work in commercial property covers acquisition and divestment, subdivisions, mortgagee sales, franchising, financing, retirement villages, the Crown Minerals Act 1991, the sale and purchase of ships and fishing quota, commercial leases, and general contract drafting. The fact that many of these disciplines overlap means he often needs to draw from several aspects of his areas of practice in order to provide the appropriate client service in any given transaction.
Alistair worked his way through university with a wide variety of jobs, giving him the opportunity to understand how various businesses and industries actually work on a day-to-day basis. Building on this, his intention is always to understand his clients’ business and the exact outcome they want to achieve. His approach is to create the most direct route to the desired outcome, consistent always with legal accuracy.
Alistair joined Anderson Lloyd in 1993 and is based in the Dunedin office.
Alistair is the honorary solicitor to a number of sports clubs in Dunedin.
