Kerry is a commercial property specialist, with a focus on property and project developments. She has always wanted to specialise in commercial law and began her law practice at a time when there was significant growth in property development – the beginning of the ‘developers’ decade’. Kerry honed her commercial property law skills on the Clearwater Resort development and then moved to Anderson Lloyd’s Queenstown office, where she is head of the property team.
Kerry has been involved in a number of important projects in the Queenstown area, in the last decade, including Jacks Point, Hawthorn, Lake Hayes Estate, Wyuna Preserve, Glencoe, Threepwood and Shotover Country. Kerry and the property team have been key advisors to a significant number of land-based developments in natural resources, tourism, residential development and townships.
Kerry believes that one of the great rewards from working in the commercial property sector is the opportunity to work alongside clients to ensure their vision for their project is realised. She assists clients with land acquisitions, joint venture development deals, negotiating contract terms, organising finance, structuring entities and property development particulars such as facilitating the process of bare land into saleable titles.
Easements and covenants are a specialist area of expertise, for Kerry, and she has presented seminars on this topic for the New Zealand Law Society. Her work in this area ranges from reviewing, reporting on and creating and interpreting easements and covenants, particularly in residential property developments.
Kerry is on the Queenstown branch committee of the New Zealand Property Council Otago chapter.
