Anderson Lloyd Acts for KeaX on the Sale of Its Utility-Scale Solar Development in Leeston
Anderson Lloyd Partners Sarah Simmers and Anton Trixl are proud to be acting for KeaX on the sale of its utility-scale solar development in Leeston, Canterbury, to Genesis Energy.
The development, located on 111 hectares of farmland in Buckley’s Road, Leeston, will consist of 74,400 solar panels with a peak capacity of 67 megawatts. Once operational, it is expected to generate 110 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power approximately 15,700 households.
The project will not only provide clean, sustainable energy but also contributes to the development of the high-tech agricultural photovoltaic (agri-PV) industry, which is expected to play an increasingly important role in the future of New Zealand’s energy production. The site will continue to be grazed, demonstrating the potential for dual use of land used for solar farms.
KeaX, is a joint venture between Ethical Power NZ Developments and shareholders of Kea Energy, a boutique Gen-Tailer in the electricity market which has been retailing renewable power for over 10 years. Kea Energy constructed New Zealand’s first Utility Scale solar farm.
At Anderson Lloyd, we are delighted to be supporting KeaX on this transaction. The sale of the Leeston solar development is a significant milestone for the future of renewable energy in New Zealand.
